Eco Team

Welcome to the ECO Team page!

Eco Intent Statement

God created a wondrous world for us to live in, but with it came the overwhelming responsibility of nurturing and protecting it.

With God, all things are possible.

We therefore have a duty to work collectively and to promote a mutual understanding of the needs of our school, our community and our world.

In our ECO Team, we inspire to educate and encourage others to work towards a better future for us all. With this thought in mind, the Team are trying to reduce our carbon footprint by monitoring the consumption of consumable products within our school. We are assessing the needs of the surrounding community and will also try to alleviate some of the problems, by working alongside local practitioners.

We empathise with the needs of others who are less fortunate than ourselves and are encouraged by the generosity of our children and their families who support our fundraising efforts.

In our ECO Team we are passionate about our role and will endeavour to educate and encourage others to actively participate and to achieve success in the continued wellbeing of our school, our community and our world.

Who are we?

The SMSJ ECO Team is made up of 1 representative from each class (year 1 to year 6).  We have a total of 10 ECO Warriors.

Our team was formed in October 2019 and together we look for ways to improve our school, community and world environment. The team meets every Friday to discuss ongoing projects and new ideas.  Each week, classes throughout our school compete for our

ECO Champion Certificateswhich are awarded during Superstar Collective Worship (very competitive).

What have we achieved so far?

We have installed 2 bird feeding tables  to encourage the wildlife within our community. The ECO Team fill these tables weekly with fat balls, fruit and bread.

How are we supporting charities?

Our World Charity has been  Water Aid. We have been collecting coins , donated by children within our school, to provide clean water for people less –fortunate than ourselves.

Thank you for your generous donations!

Exciting News!

In January 2020, the ECO Team was awarded:

 The ECO Schools Bronze Award!

This is a fantastic achievement of which we are very proud!

What is happening today?

The Coronavirus Pandemic has had a very great impact on our world  and has caused everyone to stop and consider how we live our lives. The ECO Team are committed to improving our school, community and world.

With your continued support, we can make a difference!

Check back with us soon to see what we’re doing next!
