Coronavirus 2020

Message from the Head Girl

When I first found out school was temporarily closing down due to COVID-19, I was quite upset as I had revised for my SAT’s exam but they got cancelled. Also, all Year 6 treats for the end of the year were too. I was a bit confused because I didn’t really know if I was going to see some of my friends again or if I was going back to school

During my time in lockdown, I have been baking, gardening, making crafts and rainbows, riding my bike and I have had a barbecue. Additionally, I have been doing my homework and trying a lot of new activities. I really missed everyone in school but I have been doing online mosque using Zoom.

For the past few weeks, I have had to go into school with several other children. It has been really different as all the tables are spread out, you can only play/touch your siblings and there are no toys out at playtime. We are not allowed to leave our bubble and in the afternoon, we get an extra break as well as doing some arts and crafts. It is really weird with everybody not being there and it feels quite strange.

All of the School Council, Ethos Team, Eco-Warriors and Pupil Leadership Team have had to miss out on nearly half of their year in an important role. This really disappoints me because I’m Head Girl and I’ve had to too!

Some of you might really want to get back to school, but unfortunately, our school aren’t ready to fit more people in. I hope you all stay safe at home and have a brilliant time in lockdown wherever you are. Hopefully we will all be back together soon!

Bye!

Pupil Leadership Team Intent Statement

With God, all things are possible.

Nurture: The PLT consists of ten prefects, a Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl.  These 14 pupils try their best to follow our values and show everyone how to put them into practise.

They build a close partnership with the School Council to raise money for several charities and separate events are organised to help to improve learning for everyone in our school.

Our PLT are well known to the pupils in our school and support and nurture them in order for them to become well rounded pupils.

Inspire: These 14 pupils inspire our children in many different ways.

They inspire them to follow in their footsteps, showing the children the kind of qualities which are required to take on such roles, and also inspiring them to be responsible and compassionate, caring and tolerant to those around them no matter who or how old they are.

Our pupils look up to the members of our PLT.

Achieve:  Every member of the PLT have worked extremely hard to gain their position in school.  Their application forms were of very high standards and their presentations were exceptional.

Hopefully, by being present during these presentations, the current Year 5 pupils will have been inspired by what these 14 pupils have achieved, and will be encouraged to apply themselves next year.

Our PLT support the smooth running of the school.  They welcome our children into school in the morning, they encourage the children to line up well and follow the rules during lining up time at the end of playtime and lunchtime, and they support teachers in Prayer and Praise and Superstars Collective Worship.  The Head’s and Deputies also attend all School Council meetings and fully support all of their ventures.

Meet our Head Boy and Head Girl!

Hello.  My name is Ahmad and I am 10 years old.  It gives me great pleasure to be Head Boy of St. Michael with St. John Primary School.

If any of you need help, I am always available in the Year 6 Lions class.  My aim for the end of the year, is to make sure everyone is following the rules.  Also, that everyone is happy.  If anyone is feeling sad or being bullied they can see me.

My talents are football and Maths.  In my spare time I play football or sometimes I play outside with my friends.

I love St. Michael with St. John Primary School as I see everyone smiling when they come in to school, which makes me smile.

I hope you all love school as much as I do.  Make sure you come and say hi!

Hello!

My name is Zubaydah and I am delighted to be your Head Girl this year.  I am eleven years old and I am in Year 6 Lions.  You may have seen me at SMSJ Debating Club or at one of the Children’s University clubs.

When I grow up, I would love to be a teacher or an optometrist.  My favourite hobbies are reading, drawing, baking and learning new things.

If you have any problems, please come to see me.  I look forward to working with you all to make SMSJ the best it can be.
