This half term, we will be learning...
This half term we will be studying the story ‘The Fire Thief’ allowing us to analyse the conventions of different types of writing. We will also be learning to use punctuation to determine intonation and expression when reading aloud to a range of audiences. Our writing outcome will be to write a myth to amaze or intrigue an audience, with complex sentences that include simile starters.
We will also be learning about the Olympic Games (in both English and History) that originated in Ancient Greece. We will then be using our new knowledge to write a non-chronological report about an aspect of the Olympic Games.
This half term we will be covering the following areas in our Maths lessons:
- Position and Direction.
- Converting units of measure.
We will be learning about life in Ancient Greece and the impact that their thinking and ideas have had on British life. Within this topic we will be looking at what life was like in Ancient Greece, Conquerors/ Warriors and how the Olympics were created. Please make sure that your child learns all the vocabulary definitions and facts that are listed on their Knowledge Organiser, so that they are fully prepared for their Science lessons.
We will be learning all about Ancient Greek pottery. We will be looking at the different pieces created, the techniques used and the colours. We will then be designing and creating our own piece of Ancient Greek pottery.
