What we are learning this half term?
This half term, Year three will be learning ...
In English, we will be looking at Folk Tales (The Tin forest) as well as Biographies (Roald Dahl). We will research and writing our own texts including all the features of the genres. For each of these genres, we will follow the theme of; Creating Interest, Reading and Analysing, Gathering Content and Independently Writing.
This half term we will be looking at number which includes place value and addition and subtraction.
We will be exploring Light and Shadows and use our previous knowldege to predict what we think could happen.

In English, we will be looking at Stories with Fantasy Settings (The Firemaker's Daughter), Explanations (Until I Met Dudley) and Film and Playscripts. We will research and write using the characteristics for each genre. For each of these genres, we will follow the theme of; Creating Interest, Reading and Analysing, Gathering Content and Independently Writing.
This half term we will be covering Place Value in our Maths lessons.
We will be exploring Electricty and how we use it in our everyday lives. We will even make our own circuit but we will have to use our previous knowldege to help us with this!
In RE, we will be exploring Hinduism and focusing on the Big Question: What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today?What does it mean to be a Hindu in Britain today?
We will research the artist Jean Basquait and create our own Skull masterpieces.
Using our knowldege of light and electricty, we will research, design and make light boxes and maybe even perform our own shadow puppet show.
We will recap our previous topic of electrical appliances and understand how a product needs to function in order for it to sell and think about the packaging and audience for whom it is created. After this, we will move onto food technology and create our own savoury delight!
