British Values

St Michael with St John Church of England Primary School is committed to promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These are taught throughout our broad and balanced curriculum, through PSHE lessons and during Collective Worship.  We also celebrate an annual British Values Day in school.

In addition to the whole school statement below, our strategy for the explicit teaching of British Values through PSHE can also be accessed.

Picture News is also used weekly during Collective Worship.  Picture News is a resource that allows children to learn from the world around them.  Each week, a current news story is shared with the children, followed by an image for discussion and a thought-provoking question.  Picture News also provides  relevant and meaningful links to British Values to support pupils' personal development.
