British Values
At St Michael with St John Church of England Primary School, we are committed to promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are woven throughout our broad and balanced curriculum and are promoted through PSHE, Collective Worship, special themed days and the wider life of the school.
In addition to the whole-school overview below, our strategy for the explicit teaching of British Values through PSHE is also available.
We also use Picture News each week during Collective Worship to help pupils understand the world around them. Current news stories, engaging images and thought-provoking questions encourage discussion, develop critical thinking and provide meaningful opportunities to explore British Values alongside pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
