School Meals
At St Michael with St John, we are committed to providing healthy, nutritious and enjoyable school meals for all children.
Our school meals are provided by Lancashire County Council (LCC). All meals are halal and freshly prepared using quality ingredients. Each day, children can choose from three tasty meal options, accompanied by seasonal vegetables, bread and unlimited access to the salad bar. A dessert, yoghurt or fresh fruit is also available each day.
School dinners cost £2.50 per meal. Sample menus are available from the school office (a further sample menu can be viewed below).
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled receive a free meal as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme.
Children in any year group may also be entitled to benefits-related Free School Meals. From September 2026, all children whose parent or carer receives Universal Credit are eligible to apply for Free School Meals. Some families may also qualify for Targeted Free School Meals, which enables the school to receive additional funding through the Pupil Premium. If you receive Universal Credit or another qualifying benefit, we encourage you to apply.
