CCTV Statement

 

St Michael with St John CE Primary School uses CCTV images to reduce crime and monitor the school in order to provide a safe and secure environment for pupils, staff and visitors, and to prevent the loss or damage to school property. 

 

The primary uses for the CCTV system at our school include but are not limited to:

 

  • The prevention and detection of crime – including site security and the security and safety of staff, pupils and all other visitors to the site.
  • The health and safety of staff, pupils and all other visitors to the site – this may include reviewing footage as part of the process of resolving disputes or incidents in the playground.

 

The CCTV System

 

  • The system comprises of a number of fixed and dome cameras (both inside the school building and external).
  • The system does not have sound recording capability.
  • CCTV advisory signs will be clearly and prominently placed.
  • The CCTV system is monitored out of school hours.
  • The school’s CCTV scheme is registered with the Information Commissioner under the terms of the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • The school’s CCTV Policy is available on request.

What is CCTV?

CCTV stands for Closed-Circuit Television. CCTV is the term used when cameras are used to capture images. These images are relayed back to a CCTV control room where they are monitored.
