Year 1
Summer 1
This half term in Year 1 we will be learning...
Collective Worship
Throughout this half term we will be focusing on a different value each week. The values we will be exploring are respect, love, forgiveness, service, friendship and peace. We will be listening to and responding to a range of bible stories that teach Christians about the importance of our values.
Don't forget to complete your value tasks! They could be included in our next newsletter and be displayed in our worship area!
Reading Eggs
This half term, we will be accessing Reading Eggs on a weekly basis. The aim is for every child to complete a minimum of 5 reading sessions per week.
Most of these sessions will be completed in school, however it would be extremely beneficial for children to be accessing it from home on a weekly basis as well. The aim of this programme is to improve children's reading and comprehension skills, by quickly adapting to meet the exact needs of every child.
Purple Mash
https://www.purplemash.com/sch/stmichaelbb1
Purple Mash is used in our Computing lessons. Your purple mash log in is at the front of your homework book, however, if you find it is not there, please contact me and I will get your child's details sent to you.
English
We are beginning the half term exploring the adventure story 'Grandads Island'. The children will then write their own innovated version of the story. Then we will be looking at non-chronological reports and writing our very own!
