Autumn 1 - Bulletin

Welcome back, everyone!

We hope you have had a wonderful summer and are feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead. We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with learning, new experiences and lots of fun.

In English we will be studying ‘The Iron Man’ written by Ted Hughes.

In Maths we will be focussing on Number Sense & Exploring Calculation Strategies, Place Value and Graphs.

In Science we will be investigating light.

In Geography we will be focussing the European region Naples and Campania.

In RE we will be exploring the question ‘Where and when do some people of faith pray?’

In DT we will be looking at cooking and nutrition.

In PE will developing our physical skills through invasion games.

In PSHE we will be learning about building healthy habits.

The children will also enjoy learning French, Music and Computing through our exciting Junior Jam sessions.

PE

We will keep PE kits in school. Please ensure that your child brings in the appropriate, labelled PE kit including school pumps. Our PE day is Monday.

Please ensure that your child is not wearing any jewellery on PE days. Earrings cannot be worn for safety reasons and should be removed before coming to school.

Reading

Your child will change their reading book once a week. Please continue to read at home and ask your child about their book. They will need three signatures in their Home Reading Record to show that they have read to you and are ready to change their book.

Knowledge organisers 

Please encourage your child to look at the knowledge organisers every week as we will be testing their knowledge weekly with a mini quiz. They are also on our class page.

Homework

Homework will be given out every Friday. This should be completed independently as much as possible and handed in the following Friday.

Homework includes:

Home reading (3 parent signatures required)

Spellings (test every Friday)

TT Rockstars

Reading Plus

And one other piece to be completed.
