A Talk Task (also known as Let's Explore) is one part of our six-part lesson structure in every maths lesson. They give children the opportunity to practise using pre-taught mathematical vocabulary orally with a partner, in different contexts, to explain their depth of understanding. Talk tasks help children build confidence, and are a key part of the mastery approach, where we want children to really understand the “why” behind the maths and not just the “how”.
