Nurture, Inspire, Achieve!

What are we learning this half term?

Autumn 1

This half term in Year 2 we will be learning...

Collective Worship

Throughout this half term we will be focusing on a different value each week. The values we will be exploring are respect, love, forgiveness, service, friendship and peace. We will be listening to and responding to a range of bible stories that teach Christians about the importance of our values.

Don't forget to complete your value tasks! They could be included in our next newsletter!

Reading Eggs

This half term, we will be accessing Reading Eggs on a weekly basis. The aim is for every child to complete a minimum of 5 reading sessions per week.

Most of these sessions will be completed in school, however it would be extremely beneficial for children to be accessing it from home on a weekly basis as well.  The aim of this programme is to improve children's reading and comprehension skills, by quickly adapting to meet the exact needs of every child.

This half term we will be looking at letters and story writing. We will be looking at exciting stories like ‘The Pirates Next Door’ and putting our own spin on them.

This half term we will be covering the following areas in our Maths lessons...

Place Value (within 100)

Addition and Subtraction (within 100)

Foundation Subjects

This half term we will be having intervention sessions, which will ensure that any gaps in children's knowledge are addressed quickly. This will enable your child to fully access the Year 2 curriculum.
