STEM Day 2021
STEM Day 2021 focussed on the work of Sir Isaac Newton. Our KS1 children explored the concept of gravity whilst KS2 learnt about the laws of motion. Following research of the above and a video tour of the International Space Station, our children were shown how to make a straw rocket. They tested how far it would travel and recorded the results.
During the afternoon, children were tasked with trying to innovate the design to improve performance. Once completed, they tested their rocket design and recorded another set of results. Finally, they evaluated the results to see how successful their design was.
The straw rockets proved very popular with the children, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as well as learning some important science and design lessons!
