Year 4 Rationale

Moving into Year 4 pupils consolidate and gain an increasing amount of accuracy and detail within their own Artistic creations. Pupils begin to have a new awareness of third dimensions and effective rotations within their Art, they become more aware and can speak with growing confidence about different shades and tones of colour and they are taught how to use a specific colour language. Particular units in Year 4 allow our pupils to now design their own base mediums to then work into when creating their final unit creations. Artists explored within this year group include Jean Basquait, Paul Cezanne, Pierre Renoir and Hokusai. When evaluating pupils take on a new perspective as they learn to analyse a collective piece of Art work that encompasses individual work from the whole class. The expectation is that our pupils are now ready to record these reflections within a paragraph.
