School Council Intent Statement

School Council Intent Statement

With God, all things are possible.

Nurture: Through our School Council, we ensure that all the children at St. Michael with St. John CEP School are cared for, supported and listened to.

We encourage the children in our school to become more aware of some of the issues around us.  We have helped many charities, for example, the Bethany Project, MacMillan Cancer Care, Blackburn Foodbank and Children In Need.

The children in our school have shown a concern for people within our community who are homeless so this year, we are supporting Nightsafe, which is a charity who supports young people, aged between 16 and 24, in Blackburn, who have nowhere to stay.

Additionally, we raise money every year for our school, to help to make it a better place.

We respect ideas from all the different year groups and care for those around us by trying our best to solve any problems.

Our School Council ensure that every child at SMSJ has a voice which can be heard.

Inspire: The School Council at SMSJ have been elected to set an example for their class by following the school rules and values.

By motivating our peers with interactive and fun ideas, we have raised large amounts of money by holding fundraisers that engage the children and encourage them to donate.

Our School Council also show pupils at SMSJ how to be perfect pupils and when fundraisers have been organised, we inspire them to bring in money and participate.

We inspire our children to think of others, both within our school and in the wider community.  Our School Council ask the children in their classes to consider ways in which SMSJ can be improved, and also who they would like to help within the community, then they work together to make some of these ideas a reality.

Achieve:  Over the years, our School Council has raised thousands of pounds for various projects within school and also for various charities.

Last year, we have raised over £120 for MacMillan Cancer Research, over £180 for Children in Need, over £110 for The Bethany Project and we also raised money for Sport Relief.  In addition to this, our families provided lots of food donations for Blackburn Foodbank.

SMSJ School Council work hard to raise money for different charities throughout the year.
